As introduced in the Puxi rides section, the HQM ride (Hongqiao Marriott) takes place every Saturday and Sunday 6.30am. Usually the biggest crowd shows up on Saturday and couples of guys for the Sunday one. According to the weather, sometimes that is the other way around.
The normal ride consists by riding to the drinkstand (40km), having a break the time that riders gather. Then, while most riders go back, some continue further to make an extension towards the canals or Dianshan Lake. The extension can be from 100km up to 170km or more (downtown to downtown), depending on who shows up and who is up for what.
Why make it after drinkstand? Because the nice scenery only starts from drinkstand.
